Pleasant, cheerful surroundings help keep patients in good spirits and that’s important to the healing process. Residents’ rooms at Parkway are bright and sunny, decorated for comfort as well as convenience. Private rooms are available; patients who prefer double occupancy are carefully matched for compatibility with their roommates. Each room has its own private half bath, and color, cable television sets. Air conditioning and heating is individually controlled in each room to ensure comfort and patient rooms are cleaned daily.
Throughout Parkway’s building, corridors are wide and spacious allowing for freedom of movement. Each floor has a large lounge area for patients and their guests. Parkway has several furnished sun porches available for residents to enjoy the outdoors. There is a grassy picnic area on the grounds affording patients an attractive place to visit with friends and family on sunny days. Parkway also has a coffee shop on grounds for visitors during the day.
Residents at Parkway gather in a homelike dining room to enjoy good food and a chance to socialize with other patients and friends. Dietitians create hearty meals tailored to each patient’s individual dietary needs, according to physician’s orders. Meal are prepared and planned daily by our experienced kitchen staff. Patients who prefer to not to go to the dining room are served in their rooms, with full assistance from staff members, if needed. Families are welcome to join patients for dining room meals. A coffee shop is also available during the day for visitors.

Long-term care involves more than just medication and therapy. At Parkway we’re prepared to deal with the total spectrum of patient needs. Our activities department fully devotes time and attention to scheduling classes and programs for a wide range of interests, as well as occasional outings and special events. The department’s staff members work individually with each patient, choosing appealing activities that will enhance memory and also aid manual dexterity and motor function. The regular schedule includes arts and crafts classes, religious programs, bingo and current events classes. A birthday party is held monthly. Other special occasions include dances, movies and social evenings for patients and their families.
